Geon™ 130 Series Dispersion Resins

The Geon™ 130 Series offers two distinct copolymer dispersion resins: Geon 136 and 138 resins, and Geon 137 resin. Each group has unique characteristics with specific advantages designed to meet user needs.

First, Geon 136 and 138 resins are high-molecular-weight, low-viscosity vinyl chloride/vinyl ester copolymers. They feature excellent property balance and are recommended as a starting point for formulations requiring low fusion. Applications include:

  • Mechanically-frothed foam
  • Laminating adhesives
  • Carpet backing
  • Low-fusion dip coating

Geon 136 and 138 resins also can be used with homopolymer dispersion resins to lower gel-point and fusion temperatures and to maintain maximum physical properties.

Geon 137 resin is a functionally-reactive resin with high molecular weight. It features carboxyl functional groups, which improve vinyl’s adhesion to otherwise difficult substrates such as nylon, polyester, fiberglass, aluminum, steel, galvanized metal and ABS sheet.

Additional Product Information

Geon 137 resin can be cross-linked with vinyl to improve resistance to solvents, abrasion, compression set and creep, and foam collapse. Applications include:

  • Self-adhering organosols for metal coatings
  • Adhesives for polyester and nylon flock and fabric
  • Metal primers
  • Chemically-blown and mechanically-frothed foams
  • Solvent resistant coatings
  • Hydrosols
