PolyOne Board Elects New Chief Legal Officer

CLEVELAND, Dec 5, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- The Board of Directors of
PolyOne Corporation (NYSE: POL), the world's largest polymer services company,
today elected Wendy C. Shiba vice president, chief legal officer and secretary.
Shiba joined the Company in mid-November as general counsel, assuming leadership
of its law department and internal audit function.

Shiba becomes a member of the PolyOne Leadership Team, the council of senior
executives. She succeeds Gregory L. Rutman, who retired.

Shiba, 51, served most recently as vice president, secretary and assistant
general counsel of Bowater Incorporated, a global leader in newsprint,
headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina. Prior to joining Bowater in 1993,
she was corporate chair of the City of Philadelphia Law Department while on
sabbatical from her position as a tenured associate professor of law at Temple
University School of Law. Earlier, she specialized in corporate and securities
law in the Los Angeles and New York offices of O'Melveny & Myers.

A Westlake (Ohio) High School graduate, Shiba earned her bachelor's degree with
high honors from Michigan State University in 1973. She received her law degree
cum laude in 1979 from Temple University School of Law.

Active in community service, Shiba served by gubernatorial appointment on the
South Carolina Board of Accountancy. She also served on the boards of the Legal
Services Agency of Western Carolina, the Greenville Little Theater and the
Palmetto Society of the United Way of Greenville County, and was a member of the
United Way of Greenville County Campaign Cabinet, the Palmetto Society Women's
Leadership Council and the Greenville Professional Women's Forum.
