Colors in the Stan-Tone™ EPX series for epoxy systems consist of selected pigments dispersed in a bisphenol A undiluted epoxy resin with an epoxide equivalent of 185. These colorants contain high pigment loading for optimum economies, but they can be diluted by the user if a lower viscosity is desired.
Stan-Tone EPX colorants are intended for use in a variety of thermoset epoxy systems. Typical applications include protective coatings, adhesives, epoxy flooring, electrical potting, laminates and decorative jewelry.
Key Characteristics
Selection of the best pigment(s) to meet the requirements of a particular application is based on heat stability, light-fastness, weatherability, toxicity and other factors. PolyOne’s technical service representatives can help you choose the most cost-effective pigment system for your specific needs. These colorants can be blended to achieve a range of hues.
To assure optimum uniformity, EPX colors should be pre-mixed into the epoxy resin prior to adding the curative. The use level will vary depending on the end use: typically 1% to 2% for a thick casting and 5% to 10% for a thin coating.
