High Performance Reinforced Thermoplastic Composites
Polystrand® advanced thermoplastic composites combine high strength fibers with engineered thermoplastic resins to make Continuous Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic (CFRTP) materials.
Polystrand CFRTP materials are available in rolls of tape, X-ply (0°/90°) and other configurations. The use of Polystrand material offers opportunities to reduce weight, while maintaining exceptional strength and impact resistance.
Impact and abrasion resistant panels for the rail and trucking industry, selective reinforcement of Long Fiber Thermoplastic (LFT) automotive components, air and sea cargo containers, and selected construction applications are a few examples of the industries successfully utilizing Polystrand materials. These materials are also ideally engineered to serve the aerospace, military, pipe, and trailer markets.
A Focus on Lightweight, Flexible Performance
Benefits associated with Polystrand materials range from high strength and impact resistance, to design flexibility and recyclability. Using composite materials can also increase design freedom and decrease overall total process cycle time. What’s more, Direct Long Fiber Thermoplastics (DFLT) and LFT can be combined in either compression or injection molding processes, enabling engineers to design parts that meet demanding performance targets.
