LubriOne™ Internally Lubricated Formulations

LubriOne™ lubricated and wear-resistant compounds have been specifically formulated to be self-lubricating materials, offering low coefficient of friction and improved wear-resistance properties. These materials combine the unique benefits of internal lubricants such as PTFE, silicone and molybdenum disulfide with a wide array of base engineering resins. LubriOne compounds have been demonstrated to reduce friction, noise, vibration, heat buildup and improve product durability.

The following lubricants and reinforcements enhance the performance of LubriOne™ compounds:

  • PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) offers the lowest coefficient of friction of any internal lubricant, and results in significantly lower wear rates than traditional plastics
  • Silicone behaves primarily as a boundary lubricant, and significantly reducing wear rates and coefficients of friction when compounded into thermoplastics at low levels
  • Molybdenum disulfide is typically compounded with nylon resins to reduce wear rates

Reinforcements:

  • Glass fibers are a cost-effective reinforcement to increase compound stiffness, strength and improve resistance to long-term creep
  • Carbon fibers, with a high strength-to-weight ratio, are ideal for applications with stringent stiffness and strength requirements
  • Aramid fibers reduce the wear of the mating surface and improve the performance of the entire assembly
